    Jerome Peter Barta

    Oct 1, 1922 – October 11, 2004

    A concelebrated funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Holy Family Catholic
    Church in Portland for Jerome Peter Barta, who died Oct. 11 at age 82. Recitation of the rosary will be
    at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, also in the church.

    Mr. Barta was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Portland. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School and
    received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Portland. During World War II, he
    served in the Coast Guard. He was director of athletics at Reed College. In 1956, he married Janet
    Repanich.

    Survivors include his wife; daughters, Joanne Barta, Julie Jacobs, Joy Hunt and Jill Rebholz; sister,
    Frances Stanga; and four grandchildren.

    Remembrances to Holy Family School.
