HEALTHY CHILDREN, HEALTHY PLANET:

A seven-session discussion course designed for busy parents, grandparents, teachers or anyone who cares about children.
Participants will: Understand how the pervasive effects of advertising, media and our consumer culture can influence a childs view of the world. Discover ways to create meaningful family times and healthful environments for children Explore ways to develop a childs connection to nature and to foster creativity. This course explores the influence our fast-paced, consumer-oriented society has on children, and how families can deal with these influences. Topics covered include: Cultural Pressures Family Rituals and Celebrations Advertising Food and Health Time and Creativity Technology and the Media Exploring Nature Celebration & Call to Action Each session meets for a maximum 1.5 hour time frame, the exact days and time will be determined by interested participants. Short readings from a discussion guide published by the Northwest Earth Institute (www. nwei.org) will focus the discussion for each session. Cost: $23.00 Interested?
