The huddle is 7 yards from the line of scrimmage. The Center is responsible for calling the huddle. Once called, the huddle is silent. The quarterback is the only one who will talk in the huddle. As the play is being called in or ran in, it is important for the quarterback to communicate the down and distance to the other players. The offensive lineman should have hands on knees with eyes and ears forward. The quarterback will call the play 2 times. After the first time, the center and wide receivers will leave the huddle. After the second time, the huddle will break! If you do not understand or hear the play, call check and the play will be repeated. A player should not go to the line of scrimmage if he does not know the play. After break, offensive line will sprint to LOS and get set.
Cadence
1. Monday = Color number (Repeat) Set G0! example: Red 8, Red 8, Set, Go! 2. Tuesday = Color number (Repeat) Set G0 - Go! example: Red 12, Red 12, Set Go! Go! 3. Quick = Set Go!
Pass Protection
Pass Protection will be based on a 6 man blocking scheme. Rules will be based on area, not man protection. FB will slide to call, and OL will slide opposite. Players must think and work with other OL to be effective. OL must sometimes pass defenders on to each other in order to pick up defensive blitzes. Vs. 50 front, play-side OT will lock on DT, while FB blocks DE. Vs. 40 front, play-side will make a FIRE call. F-I-R-E means FB on End. Course tight to OT. 70 means FB Right OL Left 70/61 Protection B B E T N T E 71 means FB Left and OL Right 70/61 Protection B E T B N B E E T 71/60 Protection B N B E
FIRE
In this example, RT locks on DT. The defense is a 50 front. Center picks up blitz. In this example, RT slides left and blocks B-gap. FIRE call!
FIRE
In this example, LT makes FIRE call and blocks B-gap. Slide Protection is able to pick up 6 man rush.
70/61 Protection B N
61/70 Protection B N B E
60/71 Protection
Vs this Stunt, RG slides to A gap. Since N goes away, he picks up LB. RG can pass defender.
Vs this Stunt, RG stays on N, and center will block blitzing LB. No pass of the defender.
FIRE was the Call. So FB should be on DE. In this case, DE went into B-gap. So OT and FB must adjust. OL on DE. FB on LB.

Effective in short-yardage, redzone, goal-line, and backed-up situations. Brings new personnel into the game (TE) Creates a power running game to the strength of the formation Creates a power running game to the weakness of the formation Provides a short corner to run sweep (Orange 39) Puts 3 receivers on the weak side
After homo motion puts 4 receivers to the weak side of the formation Challenges the defense to prepare and align for a new front Defenses will either: adjust DL, adjust LBs, move LB up on overbalanced side or bring corner over. Provides play action opportunities (Guards East Trail/Corner/Slip) Ran only to right side which will maximize reps and minimize assignments

Run option to a 2 or 3 technique DL. QBs midline steps: Push off with play-side foot. Step with back-side foot to opposite A-gap and bring back playside foot to 6:00. Feet should be pointing towards the sideline. This will clear the path for the FB. QB reads the inside jersey number of the DL. Reach ball back to FB as far as possible with the eyes on the jersey number of the DL. If QB can see the number, this means DL is crashing to FB resulting in a pull and keep. If QB does not see jersey number, GIVE and carry out option fake.

FB must carry out fake and get tackled. OT and Slot (while blocking DEs) must work hips and get outside position without giving up ground. Keep defense on the LOS to allow for a good path for QB. Pitch man must keep 2 x 4 relationship with QB at all times do not give up. In the above example, OLB must be either picked up by the double team block or he must tackle FB.
