Hon. Peter Brennan, Council President Members of City Council The contract with Delta Dental, the Citys provider of Dental Insurance coverage, expired on 12/31/11. At the last regularly scheduled meeting of City Council I should have presented a renewal or replacement contract prior to the expiration of coverage. I apologize that this did not occur, unfortunately, there were protracted negotiations as the City tried unsuccessfully to retain its current provider, Delta Dental. The positive news, presented to you this evening, is a two year contract for a zero percent increase. After the City was unable to reach acceptable renewal terms with Delta, the City was able to negotiate an identical contract with Horizon Dental for a zero percent increase and no diminution in Benefits. Delta Dental had proposed a 4% increase and was non committal in year two. The contract before you this evening is a two year contract with zero percent increase each year. This is clearly a win win for employees and tax payers alike; benefits remain at current levels with no increase in taxation. Sincerely,
