Subbarayappa completed the International Teaching Assistant (ITA) proficiency exam on 8/20/2011. Per OSU policy, a score of 250 is required for all non-native English-speaking graduate students to be certified to teach unconditionally if he or she did not receive a score of 26 or higher on the speaking portion of the TOEFL iBT or a score of 8.5 or higher on the speaking portion of the IELTS. A score from 240 to 249 qualifies the student to teach if he or she is concurrently enrolled in GRAD 5991. The official overall score for this student as reported to the OSU Graduate College is 263. As a result of this score, the student is certified to teach with no further requirements.
