Internet Marketing Proposal to revamp Orkut

Name and description of Google Inc: Google, Inc. is an American MNC founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in the year 1996. The company invests in internet search, cloud computing and advertising technologies. It has a host of other internet based offerings such as Gmail, Orkut, Picasa etc. The company generates profit primarily from advertising through AdWords program. Description of Orkut: Orkut is a social networking website that is owned and operated by Google Inc. The service is designed to help users meet new friends and maintain existing relationships. The website is named after its creator, Google employee Orkut Bykkkten. Although Orkut is less popular in the United States than competitors Facebook and MySpace, it is one of the most visited websites in India and Brazil. The website had more than 100 million active users worldwide as of October 2010 and was ranked the 81st most visited website in the world. However, as of January 2011, it has lost market share and become the 98th most visited website in the world. Objectives of marketing plan: The objective of the marketing plan is to enhance the current available features of Orkut while adding additional features. The marketing objective is to increase the user base and market share of Orkut and to become a market leader among the social networking services. The financial objective is to increase the revenue through ads and profit margins. Both the objectives are to be achieved within approximately 18 months.

List of activities necessary to complete the marketing plan: 1. Market share analysis of Orkut in comparison with other social networking services. 2. To perform SWO T analysis to find out the major weaknesses of our services and to find out the potential opportunities. 3. To enhance the existing features offered by our services and to include additional features. 4. To promote the new version of the Orkut website. 5. To evaluate the performance of the services added.
