Wakari ICTPD Journey
• ICT already used in some areas of the school to good
effect
• Teacher Laptop scheme rollout was just underway
• Network and server was operational but not perfect
• Wide range of teacher experience and confidence in ICT
teachers sharing their expertise
• Staff exploring essential skills, thinking skills, multiple
intelligences
First steps....
• ICTPD contract made ICT use a priority for the
school which had implications for hardware and in
our practice in the classroom
• Teachers through participation in the first year
developed a positive attitude to change.
• Second year, we knew what we were doing, where
we wanted to go, what we wanted to learn and the
areas to improve on. Collectively and individually.
Where are we now?
• School ICT infrastructure has developed a great deal
in response of our needs Activboards in each
classroom, pods of laptops, cameras, Clickview on
the network, network and server upgraded.
• ICTPD still high priority inschool staff meetings
focusing on ICT skills and activities
• Linking ICT with pedagogy, revised curriculum and
Inquiry learning
• Teachers keen to learn and develop ICT skills
further and build on their ICTPD learning to date
Next steps...
• Continuing the good work still lots to be done
consolidating and improving what we have put in
place ongoing school PD
• More ICT hardware more pods of laptops, sets of
digital cameras movie and still
• Dedicated ICT suite complete with green screen,
movie making, animation, robotics and digital
music making features

• Collegiality, the sharing of skills and ideas
• Positive attitude of teachers and Principals their
capacity to change good quality PD relies on the
goodwill of the participants
