A very good morning to our English Teacher, Madam Tey and my beloved friends. Today, our group would like to deliver a speech on the causes of the decreasing number of fish in conjunction with the World Environment Day.

First and foremost, one of the factors that causes this severe problem is the draining waste that is disposed from factories and homes into the sea. Draining wastes such as toxic substances, sewage and toxic water are poisonous. As a result, fish may die from poisoned.

In addition, human catching huge quantities of fish every day is a major cause of the decreasing number of fish. Some selfish and irresponsible fishermen scoop up a large number of fish, destroy seabed and leave the seabed barren in order to earn a high income. If this blatant activity does not stop, the number of fish might drop sharply.

Lastly, the decreasing number of fish is caused by the dumping toxic wastes into the ocean and oil spills. Toxic wastes are poisonous materials that harm many plants and animals in the ocean and have a huge impact on our health. Toxic waste is the most harmful form of pollution to sea life. Many fishermen believe that the toxic chemicals in the ocean are killing much of the fish population.

In conclusion, there are many causes of the decreasing number of fish in the ocean. Therefore, I do hope that the authorities should take immediate and appropriate action to rectify this major problem. We must stop this problem because if we dont, there will be severe consequence. Marine life is a part of nature. We must do our best to prevent extinction of all seadwelling animals in order to preserve the balance of nature.

Thank you for listening.
