Safety precautions & rules and regulations in the laboratory

Teachers Permission 1) Do not enter the laboratory unless a teacher is present. 2) Do not remove or bring out chemical or apparatus from the laboratory without your teachers permission. 3) Do not carry out any experiment without your teachers permission.

Safety 1) Light a Bunsen Burner with a match or lighter only. Extinguish the match with water and dispose of it into a dustbin. 2) Extinguish the Bunsen Burner when you are not using it. Always read the label on a reagent bottle before using it. 3) Do not touch any chemicals with your bare hands. Use a spatula. 4) Do not taste or smell any chemicals in the laboratory. 5) Do not play or run in the laboratory. 6) Do not eat or drink in the laboratory. Emergency 1) If a chemical gets onto your skin or clothing, wash the affected area with a large amount of water immediately. 2) If a chemical gets into your eyes, wash your eyes with plenty of water. 3) If you accidentally swallow any chemicals, spit it out and wash your mouth with plenty of water. 4) Do not panic if your clothes catch fire. Try rolling on the floor. Your teacher will use a fire blanket to put out the fire. 5) If there is a fire, follow the schools rules and regulations. 6) Report all accidents immediately to your teacher. Cleanliness 1) Do not throw any solid substances into the sink. Throw them into the dustbin. Wash and clean all the apparatus after use. 2) Wipe your table after an experiment and leave the laboratory clean.

Others 1) Avoid wastage. 2) Remember to turn off the taps and swich off the fans and lights before leaving the laboratory. 3) Return all the apparatus to its original place immediately after use. 4) Shut the doors when the class has been finished. 5) Arranged back the chairs nicely.
