Latinos represent the largest ethnic population in Massachusetts and the state is the 15th largest Latino market in the U.S. In Massachusetts, the Latino population grew 46.4% in the last decade, while the states overall population grew 3.1%. There are 627,654 Latinos in Massachusetts in 2010, or 9% of total population, a jump from 428,729 in 2000. In 120 Massachusetts cities, the number of Latinos doubled during the last 10 years. Purchasing power in Massachusetts totaled $12.4 billion (2009)an increase of 381.5% since 1990.

The Future.
Latino median age, 26, compared to non-Latino white median age of 42. 139% more likely to have children age 2 and under living in the household. 195% more likely to have six 6 or more people living in the household. The average Latina will have 3 children in her lifetime compared to 1.8 for non-Latina whites.

Did you know?


Hispanic children are overwhelmingly U.S. born. Fully 91% of Hispanic children were born in the U.S., compared to only 47% of Hispanic adults, yet these young, acculturated bilingual Hispanics still feel a deep sense of Latino identity.
