Knowledge, Phonics and Fluency (Green Band) MSC Indicator: 1.B.1.a. and b. Objective: Students will begin to associate sounds with letters by using oral blending skills Lesson Objective(s): Students will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondence. Students will be able to produce the sound for each consonant sound. Students will be able to begin to associate sounds with letters by using oral blending skills. Review: Previously learned sound/spellings and sight words Procedure: Teacher will use the following Reading Foundational Skills as outlined in the Preparing to Read (Green Band): Warming Up (located on page T246): Sound/Spelling Chain, Vowel Review, Counting Syllables and Vowels Phonemic Awareness (T247): Oral Blending, Segmentation Phonics (T248): Introduce /k/ spelled ck, Final /k/, Blending Phonics Skills (Student book pgs 44-45) Dictation (T252) Reading a Decodable Book (T254-255): Book 19 Picnic High frequency words: no new words Responding: What did Dad pick? What can Nick pack? Where is Pam? What does Pam have? Differentiated Instruction: Teacher directed: Preteach words in activities review phonemic awarenes Intervention Guide pg. 63 Review blending /k/ spelled ck Reteach: Phonics skills pg 44-45 Reread decodable book 19: Picnic Independent activities: /k/ spelled ck Challenge: Phonics skills pg 27 Partner read decodable book 19: Picnic Review high frequency flash cards Summary/Assessment: Students will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondence.
