Conclusion After the average was calculated, our experiment revealed that the lemon conducted the most

electricity overall. Our hypothesis was wrong because according to our results the lime did not conduct the most electricity, the lemon did. The reason why the lemon had the conducted the most amount of electricity was because of its level of acidity. The acid in the lemon triggered a chemical reaction between the copper and zinc. Positively charged hydrogen in the acid oxidizes the zinc, causing electrons to flow from the zinc to the acid. In the process, some of the hydrogen in the acid is reduced to hydrogen gas. The copper just completed the circuit. Lemons have a large amount of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which can be up to 32 percent of the fruits' weight. The lemon juice itself contains 87 percent vitamin C. Citric acid makes up 5 percent to 6 percent of the fruits' content. Average pH for lemon is about 2.30 which is the highest compared to the other fruits we tested. Therefore because lemon had more substances like Vitamin C and Citric acid, there was a higher reaction between the cathode and anode, thus producing more volts and conducting more electricity. We also concluded that mass of the fruits has no affect with voltage relative to each other because in all three trials the grapefruit had the highest mass but was not always the one with the highest voltage. I think that the sources of errors were do to the differences of masses of the fruit. If my group would have researched the average mass for each fruit then we could have more accurate data because we would have had an average in amount of voltage conducted. Instead we had a large range of number of volts each fruit conducted. Another source of error could be that different fruits were riper than others. This made me wonder if the riper the fruit the higher the voltage because more juice, that contains acid, were flowing.
