Your group will need the following materials: A golf ball. A yardstick. A piece of masking tape, broken up into smaller pieces. A chair from the Cafeteria. Directions Pick a starting spot at least 8 ft. high on the wall. Make sure you always start from the same spot! Drop the ball and record how high it gets after each successive bounce in the tables below. Its helpful to use the masking tape to mark the height of each bounce. You might want to practice this once or twice so your results are accurate. Record two trials. You might not have as many bounces as are allotted in the table. Golfball, Trial #1 Bounce Number Rebound Height (in.) 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Golfball, Trial #2 Bounce Number Rebound Height (in.) _________ Ball, Trial #1 Bounce Number Rebound Height (in.) 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

__________ Ball, Trial #2 Bounce Number Rebound Height (in.) Once you have recorded your data, choose one trial for each ball and do the following: a. Graph the data in CPMP Tools as (Bounce Number, Rebound Height) and describe any patterns you see the resulting scatterplot. b. Find the exponential regression y = equation for the scatterplot. c. Write a Next/Now Equation. d. Explain what the starting value and multiplier mean. 1) Golf Ball a. Description: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

b. y = c. Next = d. Explanation:

2) _________ Ball a. Description:
