Level1TrainerCourseTest: WhatcanIexpectontheLevel1TrainerCoursetest? The test is 50 multiplechoice questions based on the core concepts, methodology and foundationalmovementsofCrossFit.Allofthematerialusedcomesdirectlyfromthetwoday Trainer Course and the CrossFit Training Guide. It takes approximately 1 hour and is a closed book/notestest. PleasealsoreadthroughtheParticipantHandbookfordetailedinformationontheLevel1 TrainerCourseandTest. Howdifficultisthetest? The test is designed to be a review of the twoday Level 1 Course and reinforce the essential elementsbehindCrossFittrainingandhasan80%passrate.AnyonewhostudiestheCrossFit Training Guide, actively participates in a Level 1 Trainer Course, and has had exposure to CrossFit training via the website or a CrossFit affiliate, should have little difficulty passing the test. Unlimited opportunities to retake the test should ensure success for anyone driven towardsachievement. Whatisthebestwaytoprepareforthetest? Attend a Level 1 Trainer Course and study the CrossFit Training Guide. Experience and familiaritywithCrossFitthroughtrainingatalocalaffiliateorutilizingCrossFit.comcanalsobe helpful. WherecanIgettheCrossFitTrainingGuide? The manual can be found in the CrossFit Journal http://journal.crossfit.com/2010/05/crossfit level1trainingguide.tpl and is accessible to all Journal subscribers. WhatshouldIbringforthetest? AgovernmentissuedphotoID,printedregistrationreceiptandasharpened#2pencilwith eraser. Whatisthesignificanceofpassingthetest? Passing the test means individuals have demonstrated minimal understanding of the CrossFit fundamentals, both concepts and movement. This is a starting point to begin training others andcontinuesuccessfuldevelopmentasaCrossFitTrainer.Itaffordstherightsandprivilegesof a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CFL1) per the Trainer Licensing Agreement and the opportunity to applyforaffiliation. WhatifIdonotpassthetest? ThosethatdeclinetotakeorfailthetestwillreceiveaLevel1CertificateofAttendanceinthe mailapproximately23weeksaftertheirtestdate.Attemptstoretestwillbeofferedfor$150 each. There is no limit to the number of times the test may be retaken within 1 year. If you cannot pass the test within 1 year from your initial attempt, you will have to reattend the coursetoqualifytotakethetestagain.

WhatisthedifferencebetweenaLevel1TrainerCertificateandaCertificateofAttendance? A Trainer Certificate is required by CrossFit to train others using CrossFit methods (per the TrainerLicensingAgreement),andbecomeanaffiliateowner.ACertificateofAttendancesimply documentsparticipationataLevel1TrainerCourseanddoesnotmeetCrossFitsrequirements forlegallytrainingothersusingCrossFitsmethodsorforaffiliation. Ihavenointentionofbecomingatrainerorowninganaffiliate,doIneedtotaketheLevel1 test? No. The test is optional. A Certificate of Attendance is sufficient recognition for individuals desiring to learn and better themselves (not train others) through CrossFits methodology for healthandfitness.However,everyonecantakeandbenefitthetest,nomattertheirgoalsasit is a good learning tool for highlighting essential concepts and reinforcing the fundamentals taughtduringtheLevel1TrainerCourse. Willtherebeanonlineversionofthetest? No.Thetestwillonlybeadministeredandmonitoredinperson. WhatifIliveinaremoteareaoroverseas? TheLevel1testwillbeofferedateveryLevel1TrainerCourse,bothintheUnitedStatesand internationally. The Seminar Team has also already identified & discussed the need to target the broadest possible range of locations for Level 1 course/test venues prior to December 31, 2011.Ifweareunabletomakeittoalocationreasonablyclosetomeettheneedsofindividuals in a given area, you may submit a request to seminars@crossfit.com for an extension beyond December 31, 2011. Requests for extensions will be reviewed and granted on a case by case basis. WhatifIdonotspeakEnglish? ThedefaultlanguageforallUSbasedandinternationalLevel1TrainerCoursesisEnglish.This includestheCrossFitTrainingGuideandtheTest.Pleasecontactseminars@crossfit.comatleast twoweekspriortothecoursestartdateforinformationandpermissiononattendingthecourse withatranslator,usingaforeignlanguagedictionary,ortobegivenmoretimetocompletethe test.Noaccommodationsorpermissionswillbemadeonsite.Translatorswillbeallowedto translateduringthecourseonly.Notranslatorscanbeusedduringthetest. Currently, the written test is offered in English, South American Spanish, Castilian Spanish, Korean, French, Portuguese, German and Italian. The CrossFit Training Guide is available in English,SouthAmericanSpanish,andItalian.CrossFitiscontinuallyintheprocessoftranslating itseducationalmaterialstootherlanguages,sopleasecheckwithseminars@crossfit.comforthe mostuptodatelistoflanguagesavailable. Certificateswillbeindividuallymailedtotheaddressprovideduponregisteringforthecourse. Pleaseallowupto3weeksfromthedateyoutakeyourtestforyourCertificatetoarrive. Internationallocationscantakeupto6weekstoarrive. WillIbetoldwhatIfailed? Yes.Ifyoufailthetestanemailwillbesentwithin57daysoftheLevel1TrainerCourseTest. This email will include your score and a summary of your performance on the test and recommended areas of study to assist in future test attempts. Those who pass the test will receive scores only via email. This email will also include CFL1 Certificate terms of use and a copyoftheCFL1TrainerLicensingAgreement. WhendoesmyLevel1TrainerCertificateexpire? 5yearsfromthemostrecentsuccessfultestdate.CertificatesofAttendancewillnotexpire. HowmuchdoesmyretestcostifIattendedacourseafterApril1,2010? ForindividualswhoreceivedaCertificateofAttendanceforfailedLevel1TestsafterApril1, 2010,thecostforaretestis$150. HowdoIregistertoretakeafailedtest? FollowtheinstructionsyoureceiveinyourCrossFitLevel1TrainerCertificateCourseTestResults email.Thisemailwillbesentwithin57daysfromthedateofyourtest.Itwilldetailhowand whenyoucanregisterforaretest.Itwillalsodetailthesubjectareasyoudidpoorlyin,giving youtheopportunitytofocusyourstudyforgreatersuccessonyourretest. CanIregisteronsiteataLevel1location? No. The only method available for registration is through the registration system at CrossFit.com.TheTestOnlyoptionclosesoneweekpriortotheLevel1TrainerCourse. DoestheLevel1testaffectmyLevel2Certification? Yes.CurrentLevel2CertificationsrequirepassingtheLevel1testandreceivingacurrentLevel 1TrainerCertificatebyDecember31,2011. One of our primary goals with implementing these changes has been supporting affiliates in makingthetransitionaspainlessaspossible.TestingwillbeavailableatallLevel1Coursesand Affiliateswillhaveover18monthstotakeandpassthetest. IfyoutookyourLevel1CourseafterApril1,2010,youneedtohavepassedthetesttoapply.If youtookyourLevel1CoursebeforeApril1,2010,youcanapplyandifaccepted,youwillhave untilDecember31,2011topassthetesttomaintainyouraffiliation. General: WhyistheLevel1CoursenowaCertificateCourseasopposedtoaCertification? In the accreditation process, a Certification is generally defined as a test or exam only. A Certificateisdefinedasbeingattachedtospecificandrequiredcoursework.OurLevel1Course will provide Certificates and our Level 2 will be for Certification. The new Level 1 Trainer Certificate will still hold the same value within the CrossFit community as it does now; it will affordtherightsandprivilegesundertheTrainerLicensingAgreementandbearequirementfor affiliation. DoesCrossFithaveanaccreditedcourse? Yes. The CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate Course received accreditation from the American NationalStandardsInstitute(ANSI)onDecember14,2010.BoththeLevelITrainerCourseand Level2CoachesCertificationrequireseparateapplications. Whatisaccreditation? Accreditation is a process where an officially accredited third party presents certification of competency, authority, or credibility. It ensures the agreement with a recognized set of standards, evaluates quality control, validates credentials and ensures commonly acceptable procedures. WhenwilltheLevel2Certificationbeavailableagain? The CrossFit Level 2 Certification is currently being restructured to meet accreditation application requirements. We cannot say with 100% certainty when this process will be complete. IwaspreviouslyofferedafreeretestformyLevel2Certification.Rightnowtheyarentbeing offeredbutthereisaCoachsPrepCourse.Whataremyoptions? The Level 2 Certification Course has been postponed in order to undergo content review for futureaccreditation.ParticipantsthatareowedcreditforafreeLevel2Certificationhavetwo options: (1) use the free credit to attend a Coachs Prep Course or (2) wait for the Level 2 Certificationtobecomeavailable.
