Begin by casting on 30. turn Row 1: knit across (this will be the RS) turn (30 k) Row 2: purl across. Turn (30 p) Row 3-103: *k 1, p1* across. Turn (15 k, 15 p) Always begin these rows with k and end with p. Depending on the size of your stitches, you may need more or less than 103 rows. From the start, it should measure approximately 22 at the end of this portion. You will now be working the button hole row on the RS of your work. If you are not on RS, Simply work 1 more *k1 p1* row Row 104: *k1, p1* 3 times, slip 1 stitch, holding yarn as if to knit. Move yarn to front of work and leave it there. [Button hole]Slip next stitch from left needle to right needle. Pass the 1st slipped stitch over the 2nd slipped stitch and off of the needle. Repeat until you have bound off enough stitches for your button to fit through. (I bound off 2 for a 2cm shank button.) Slip the last stitch from the right needle back to the left needle. Turn your work and bring the yarn to the front. You will now use the twisted purl cast on method to cast on the number of stitches you bound off, plus one additional stitch. Insert right needle into the 1st loop on the left needle by coming through the back left side of the loop (see pic)

Wrap yarn around needle as if to purl and complete by pulling the loop through and placing the new loop on the left needle. You will do this once for each stitch you bound off, plus one. Turn. You will now finish the k1 p1 pattern across the remainder of row 104. If the stitch you are beginning on is an even number, you will begin with p, if you began with an odd numbered stitch then you will begin with k. The row should end with a p. Row 105-116: *k1, p1* across. Turn (15 k, 15p) You should end with a RS row Row 117: purl across (30 p) Row 118: knit across (30 k) Cast off Weave in ends. Fold edges of work over to lay as they would lay to be worn. Place button under the button hole so that it will line up and then sew the button in place.

Feel free to use the products of this pattern as you wish!! :) Happy Knitting!
