Annotated Bibliography Primary Sources Ahmed, Muftaque. Government and Politics in Pakistan. New York: Frederick A. Praeger, 1963.

Print. On page 295 in the book there was a table about the seats held in the Pakistani assemblies as of September, 1957. I used the table because the numbers in the table clearly showed the unbalanced power in the Pakistani government before the war. The table helped me prove that because of an unbalanced government, East Pakistani wanted to gain its own independence. Ahmed, Tajuddin. "Prime Minister of Bangladesh Statement." It summarized the aftermath of the war, like the death toll, and showed hidden footage revealing Pakistani soldiers executing students, workers, and professors at the University of Dhaka. This news coverage was mainly about the mass killings in the Khulna district alone and that men in the Awami League and other certain Bengalis were slaughtered. Bangladesh Genocide: Rape Victims. This news clip from NBC is a primary source because it was made a year after the war, after the U.S. find out thousands of Bengali females young and old were raped by Pakistani soldiers. This news coverage on the rape victims show that due

to the Bengali society, the Bengali females pregnant with the child of a Pakistani soldier is widowed and even rejected by their husband and parents. Bangladesh Genocide: Village Massacre. Dir. ABC. This is a primary source because it was written a few days after the Bangladesh gained its independence. This article had different views from different people in the U.S. government. Their views about the war, really showed that the U.S. was not in favor of the war in the first place and that they were siding with Pakistan on this one. Tanweer Akram (author) analysed the Pakistani government ruling over the Bangladeshi people, the Pakistani crisis, and the birth of Bangladesh in his article. Ali, Sarwar. "Interviewing Dr. Sarwar Ali." Telephone interview. 27 Jan. 2012. On January 27, 2012 I interviewed one of the Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh Liberation War Museum, Dr. Sarwar Ali. I called him around 8:30 A.M. in Bangladesh time. I asked him questions such as, what were the causes of the war. He answered all of my questions and even told me about his personal experience during the war; he was a freedom fighter. Dr. Sarwar Ali helped me get a better understanding of the war and how politics played a major role. He also explained to me about the role of women, which was surprising because he said that women were the supporter and protectors. When I learn about wars in

I thought that was a great way to talk about the differences in cultures. His father was also a freedom fighter and he died during the war.
