O dearest of my friends. . .

O dearest of my friends Lets walk another mile Before this journey ends Perhaps, not hand in hand, but tread, with me, in step . And speak of little things That neither foul nor fair We do not hate or dear and either here, or there . .are Humble and so mundane . .That neither boon nor bane . Perceived in retrospect, These shall the dearest be. To us, both you and me Of days that we have lived And roads that we have walked, . .Perhaps not hand in hand, . .But often step in step . Lets wait another while So the eve gets darker still And lamps as ambers glow Just as these moments shall Through hanging mists of time . (khurram)
