SYNOPSIS

A study on effectiveness of organizational culture on the morale of employees Introduction


The Fertilizers and Chemicals Travncore Limited (FACT) is an India-based company. The Company is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of fertilizers, caprolactam, and engineering consultancy and fabrication of equipment. The Company operates in two segments: fertilizer and petrochemical. The fertilizer includes ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulphate, mixtures, muriate of potash (MOP) and urea. Petrochemical includes caprolactam. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010 (fiscal 2010), the Udyogamandal division produced 176,544 metric tons of factamfos 20:20;179,546 metric tons of ammonium sulphate, and 246,417 metric tons of sulphuric acid. The production of caprolactam was 42,006 metric tons. During fiscal 2010, the Company's production of nutrient nitrogen and nutrient P205 was 115,357 metric tons. During fiscal 2010, the annual production of sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid was 223,620 metric tons and 577,200 metric tons respectively. Working Definition Organizational culture: It refers to a pattern of learned behaviors that is shared and passed on among the members of an organization. Morale: It is an overall attitude of an individual or group towards all aspects of their work. Statement of the Problem Different companies possess different culture. The interpersonal relationship among the employees, the way of communication, the level of supervision, performance appraisal, training etc. will be different for different companies. The difference in the culture of different organization can have an impact morale of the employees in that company. However the impact of the organizational may vary according to the age, gender, educational qualification etc of the employees. Objectives of the study 1. To evaluate the effectiveness of organizational culture on the morale of employees in the organisation. 2. To understand the effect of career development and training programs in the organization on improving the productivity of employees. 3. To understand the level of satisfaction on the provision of compensation & benefits 4. To find the general attitude of the employees towards the organization. 5. To find the nature of organizational culture & identify its cultural dimensions.

Data collection Data refers to information or facts which includes numerical figures, qualitative & quantitative informations. There are 2 types of data collection methods 1. Primary data

2. Secondary data Primary data Primary data are those which are collected for the 1st time which is original in character. They are collected directly & are reliable. The primary data was collected through a well structured questionnaire. Secondary data Secondary data is those which have already been collected by someone else. Secondary data has been collected from company records, text books, websites etc. Research Approach

Survey using a questionnaire shall be adopted in this study. The questionnaire shall be circulated to the respondents as per the research design

Statistical tools Percentage analysis & Chi-Square are the tools used to interpret the data & to provide conclusion for the study. Population The population consists of all employees of FACT Udyogamandal division. Sample Size Samples will be collected from all departments randomly. Sample size will be selected in

accordance with the total number of employees in the company.


Sampling Procedure

The sample size estimated shall be selected randomly (lottery method).


Scope of the study The study determines the effectiveness of organizational culture on the morale of the employees of FACT, Udyogamandal Division. It concentrates mainly on the evaluation of effectiveness of organizational culture on the morale of the employees. Limitations 1. All people may not be ready to give the information. 2. We are assuming that the information provided is correct. 3. An element of subjectivity is also involved in the topic.
