Automation

Industrial automation is the use of control systems such as computers to control industrial machinery and processes, replacing human operators. In the scope of industrialization, it is a step beyond mechanization. Automation greatly reduces the need for human sensory and mental requirements.

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)

NEMA (National Electrical Manufactures Association) defines PLCs as Programmable logic Controller is a digital electronic device which uses a programmable memory to store instructions and data and implements specific functions such as timing, counting, logics etc to control various machines or process. A PLC is a device that was invented to replace the necessary sequential relay circuits for machine control. The PLC works by looking at its input and depending upon their state, turning ON / OFF its inputs. The user enters a program, usually through software, that gives the desired result. A PLC can be defined as a solid state device. It is capable of storing instructions to implement control functions such as sequencing, timing, counting, arithmetic, data manipulation and communication to control industrial machines and processes.
