Bach was born in Eisenach. His dad taught him to play violin and harpsichord, a type of key board.

Bach's mom and dad died in 1694. when he was ten, he moved with his brother, Cristoph. He taught him to play the clavichord, (another type of key board) and the organ. At a church, Bach managed the organ. When he was 14, he got a choral scholarship (along with his friend) to go to st. Michaels school. This meant a long journey with his friend, probably on foot and by coach. In addition to singing in the choir, he probably played the School's organ and its harpsichords. He probably learned French and Italian, theology, Latin, history, geography, and physics. When he was 22, bach moved to Muhlhausen and married Maria Barbara Bach, and had seven children. In 1717, when he was 32, he got the job of master of music to prince Leopold. His wife died in 1720, and in 1720 he married to Anna Wulken, who was a good musician. Bach had 13 more children (that adds up to 20). He made a little book for the keyboard for his nine year old son, wilhem. He grew up to be a composer, and a performer. Bach was a pious man, so his music was signed S.D.G. which translated to to the glory of the god. He bragged that he could form a symphony with just his family (figurative?). He went blind in 1749 and died the next year.
