What we are learning In Reading- The story this week is At Home Around the World. It is a nonfiction piece that compares homes in different cultures. In phonics, we are studying y at the end of words making the long e sound. We are still working on classifying and categorizing. In Writing-We are working on writing for different reasons. We are beginning to find ways to elaborate on a topic. In Math-We will begin Unit 6 sometime this week. It is Addition and Subtraction Strategies to 20. In Social Studies-We will work on the character quality of caring for the month of February. We will learn about Presidents Day.
Our Calendar *Mon., Feb. 20-No school! Presidents Day. This is our last extra day off until Spring Break. *Tues., Feb. 28- Field Trip to Leveda Brown Transfer Station in Gainesville. *Mon.-Fri., March 5-9-Volunteer Appreciation Week *Thurs., March 22-Field Trip to Homosassa Springs State Park.
We have begun a new behavior plan in the classroom. A weekly beehavior chart will come home each Friday. Please acknowledge and reward your childs appropriate behavior. Thanks.
