Multistage Centrifugal Pumps
Multistage Centrifugal Pumps
V-GYAN
Multistage centrifugal pumps have two basic functions to perform. The first function is producing a high lead. The second function is to discharge the liquid in large quantities. For developing a high head impellers are installed on the same shaft. Impellers are placed on different shafts only when the liquid is supposed to be discharged in large quantity. The multistage pump is a more economical way of creating high pressure with a single pump. Developing a centrifugal pump that possesses a differential

pressure of 150psid or more is quite expensive to design and maintain. In a multistage pump, the internal channels in the pump casing divert the discharge of one impeller to the suction of another impeller.
Like everything else there are some basic features of multistage centrifugal pumps too. the first and the most prominent feature is a multi-stage design. All thanks to the design, the user of the pump can avail a quiet, steady and a vibration-free it is the design of the pump that helps in delivering a trouble free experience to the user. The impeller is the most important part of the centrifugal pump. These impellers feature a thermoplastic precision molded and is 20% glass filled for a high level of efficiency. A very compact design is another notable aspect of these pumps. These pumps are close coupled and thus save a lot of space while installation. Unlike other pumps, the centrifugal pump does not require a flexible coupling and bedplate.

The multistage pump allows mounting in two directions - vertical or horizontal. These pumps feature a stainless steel pump that have a hex design. This hex design enables a positive drive for the impellers and weeds out the need for clearance adjustments.
