SPECIAL TYPES OF QUADRILATERALS

TRAPEZIUM
 A quadrilateral in which at least one pair of opposite sides are parallel is called a trapezium.

PARALLELOGRAM
 A quadrilateral in which both the opposite sides are parallel is called a parallelogram.

PROPERTIES OF A PARALLELOGRAM
 Opposite sides are equal.  Opposite angles are equal.  Diagonals bisect each other.

RHOMBUS
 A parallelogram in which a pair of adjacent sides are equal is called a rhombus.

PROPERTIES OF A RHOMBUS
 Rhombus is a parallelogram.  Diagonals bisect at right angles.

RECTANGLE
 A parallelogram in which at least one angle is a right angle it is a rectangle.

PROPERTIES OF A RECTANGLE
 A rectangle is a parallelogram. All properties of a parallelogram holds for a rectangle also.  At least one angle is a right angle.  Diagonals are equal.

SQUARE
 A parallelogram with a pair of adjacent sides equal and one angle is a right angle is called a square.

PROPERTIES OF A SQUARE
    All sides are equal in length. Each of its angle is 90 degrees. The diagonals are equal in length. The diagonals bisect at right angles.

KITE
 A quadrilateral in which pairs of adjacent sides are equal is called a kite.  Note: A kite is not a parallelogram.
