For immediate release Contact: Kate Morgan 414-416-6509/kmorgan@1kfriends.org September 13, 2010 MEDIA INVITED TO SEE HOW $109 MILLION IN LOCAL PROJECTS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF FLOODING IN REGION What: Media is invited to join a field trip bus tour of flood management and stormwater projects that will reduce the risk of flooding for neighbors and businesses in Wauwatosa and Elm Grove. The two projects cost a total of $109 million. The bus tour is for participants at the 7th Annual Clean Rivers, Clean Lake Conference. When: 3 p.m. 4:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 15 p.m. Where: Meet at lobby of Radisson Hotel West, 2303 N. Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa, WI Background: The field trip is part of the 7th Annual Clean Rivers, Clean Lake Conference, sponsored by Sweet Water (The Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust, Inc.), which is bringing together experts, government officials, environmental advocates and businesses on Wednesday Sept. 15 to discuss pollution and flooding the problem and solutions in waterways in southeastern Wisconsin. Conference participants will tour the $96 million Milwaukee County Grounds Flood Management Project and a $13 million Village of Elm Grove stormwater retention project. Media are also invited to attend and cover all segments of the conference. The keynote speaker will be Judy Beck, Lake Michigan Manager for the EPAs Great Lakes National Program Office in Chicago. Her remarks will be part of the opening plenary session 8:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at Radisson Hotel West, 2303 N. Mayfair Rd. Wauwatosa.
