Dear Parents and Community Members, As we prepare to break ground for the new Lorain High School, we must make some difficult decisions to put our students and community in the best position to succeed. I am writing today to inform you that we will be moving Lorain High School to the previous Southview High School building at 2270 East 42nd Street. Moving students, staff and equipment is not an easy task but it will benefit our students and community as we move forward. Here is a thorough explanation as to why we decided to make this move. 1. Safety and impact on learning The safety of our community members is our first priority. We will minimize the distraction to our students and staff by creating an environment free of commotion, construction workers, machinery, and supplies. 2. Maximizing design The entire Lorain High School site can be used by the architects and construction managers, maximizing the opportunity to build the best high school in the state. 3. Shorten the construction schedule The new Lorain High School can be completed as much as a year earlier because we can demolish the current high school while the architects and construction managers finish the design. 4. Decrease costs The current Lorain High School site will be occupied with materials, machinery, and construction crews. Because of the limited amount of space, we would need to make additional space for the students and staff, such as temporary parking lots. These costs will be averted by moving the students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we create a new landmark for our community. Warm Regards,

Dr. Ed Branham Superintendent
