Emerging Technologies Paper

1. In your field, find an emerging technology (Note: If you are Undeclared, pick an Engineering field that interests you. If you are pursuing a non-Engineering field either find an Emerging Technology in your area or pick an engineering technology to investigate) a. One that is not currently used publicly b. One that is currently under development 2. Describe the technology 3. Define the problem this emerging technology solves a. Why is it better than what currently is used? b. What technologies does it build upon? 4. Describe the hurdles yet to be conquered to make this technology usable 5. Specifications a. 500600 words of discussion b. Follow APA style (Contact the Writing Center if you need help) i. Reference page (1) Minimum 4 references (2) At least one primary (3) Wikipedia is not an acceptable reference (4) Not part of word count ii. Submit through pasting into Blackboard 6. Extra Credit Opportunity a. Give 3-4 minute oral presentation on your emerging technology i. You may be called upon at any time in any class to present ii. If you arent there, no second chance b. Written Report:100 points total (1) 20 points each for items in 1-4, above (a) 20 points awarded for thorough and detailed (b) 15 points awarded for hit the points, but superficially (c) 10 points awarded for some effort, but tried to fake it (d) 0 for not submitted or no discernable effort (2) 20 points for format (a) Meets APA (Do not include Abstract) (b) No spelling errors (c) No grammatical errors: Pronoun reference, vague adjectives, etc. (3) Oral report (a) 20 points possible, but no higher percentage than grade on written report (b) Full for attempting to follow Communication Handbook (c) Full for thorough discussion of the emerging technology
