ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The home owner was alerted there was a fire by his smoke alarm. He reacted to the alarm and discovered a fire in his basement laundry room. Firefighters responded to the scene and were able to quickly extinguish the fire before is extended to other areas of the house. The fire was attributed to the disposal of smoking materials.
