Trend of Growing Green Concern

This article is mainly concern with the Growing Green concept introduced by Coca-Cola & Pepsi. Coca-cola came up with an idea of launching new bottles that are 30% biomass- based. The company tries to reduce its carbon footprint by using of ethanol instead of Petroleum to make the part of PET bottles. Ethanol is a derivatives molasses, molasses is a product generated by sugar mills. The bottle s new design is completely recyclable .The "Plant Bottle" is fully recyclable; it has a lower reliance on a non-renewable resource. The material that is used in the "Plant Bottle" can be recycled and reused again and again. It also reduces carbon emissions, compared with petroleum-based PET plastic bottles and therefore coke has introduced over 2.5 billion green bottles with 30% bio-based content in 20 countries including the US, Canada, Brail and now India has also joined the list.

Even Pepsi had similar plans. Last year PepsiCo globally unveiled a 100% recyclable bottle made from bio-based raw material like switch grass, corn husk, etc and this introduction of the "Plant Bottle " is yet another great example of their leadership on environmental issues.

In today s economy, the awareness and concern can be leveraged and turned into sales through savvy public relations practices. Even coca cola has done many PR practices for their green concern. Coca cola has done many pr campaigns for environmental problems for example like they had done a campaign for reducing the misuse of water resources and many others. With PR the brand messages are recognized instantly and therefore Coca-Cola had opened an exclusive website called www.cokefacts.org, which addressed the allegations related to India and other countries. So these were some PR practices done by Coca-Cola.
