Dco/CbuzmunuodMcmbors of the Public Design Commission: am writing to you today on behalf of the Boardwalk Hysterical Society to urge you to not. let the Parks Department of New York City ruin the Riegelma:nn 'Boardwalk by replacing the wood decking with concrete. Over the last hundred years, the city has been involved in Coney Island, Robert Moses had Coney go through Urban Renewal, causing the amusement area to shrink by two thirds, and bring crime. Also, zom g was ignored for decades. Despite the negative impacts, the city did one of the best things for New York City by giving Coney Island its Boardwalk. Currently, the City is making an effort to fix some of the damage inflicted from past years. It would be detrimental to downgrade one of the best things the city ever gave to Coney Island at a time when they are trying to revamp the area and fix the mistakes made before. The society I founded. is composed mostly of this generatt -W Americans. Our members, as well as non members of th: e eration, will be the ones who benefit most out of Coney island's boardwalk. The rainforest does not have to be destroyed to do the boardwalk, nor does concrete have. to be used. Concrete may be a cheaper solution, bu : : end up costing much more in the long term. People from all around the world come to visit Coney Island, and its unique and historical attractiot s. They do not come to vis t some concrete deck that is similar to the rest of pedestrian walkways in their lives. They come to ease the tension on their feet and walk on a unique, historical walkway. Please save the Boardwalk and its charm for future generations to enjoy! Sincerely,

Taylor Stein Founder and President of the Boardwalk ysterical Society
