Introduction:
Induction motor:
Induction motor is a type of ac motor where power is supplied to the rotor by means of electromagnetic induction. Poly phase induction motors are widely used in industrial drives. It is a self starting device. The advantages of induction motors are, Cost low, more efficient & operate at any atmospheric conditions.

On the 80th decade the production of electronic circuits and microprocessors with high computation ability and operating speed has grown very fast. The high power, high speed and low cost modern processors like DSP,FPGA and ASIC ICs along with power technique switches like IGBT made the intelligent control to be used widely in electrical drives.

Fuzzy logic:

It is a technique to embody Humanlike thinking into a control system. Fuzzy controller can be designed to emulate human deductive thinking. Various speed control techniques of Induction motor are, Direct torque control, sensor less vector control Field oriented control

Previous Techniques:
Pole Changing. Stator voltage control. Supply frequency control. Eddy current coupling. Rotor resistance control.

Drawbacks:
Torque decreases with respect to speed. Cannot applicable for constant Torque applications. Starting torque is low.

Present Technique:
The fuzzy logic controller is implemented using the Field oriented control technique. It provides better control of motor torque with high dynamic performance. It gives more efficient and reliable.

Advantages:
It gives more efficient and reliable. We can control the speed accurately. The operating time is low. It gives maximum torque over the entire speed range. The efficiency of the motor is increased in steady state.

Applications:
High level process control in cement industry. Paper and pulp management. Manufacturing of washing machine. Detection and Diagnosis of electro mechanical drives and actuators Traffic management and control.
