RMC II Session 6 Theory Discussion Short Assignment

For the Theory Discussion element of Session 6 (14 November), please prepare: A brief description of a theory that is commonly used in your research area. Your description should be in the form of a Word document, about 2-3 pages long. Your description should include the following elements/sections: An introduction to the theory (i.e. a sentence or two that summarises it in simple terms) An explanation of the theory and its major components (e.g. constructs, models) An example of the theory in action, probably from your research area Some other general examples of where and how the theory could be useful A list of key references for the theory (i.e. a starting point for anyone who wants to know more)

Please see the document RMC II S6 Social_Exchange_Theory which I have prepared. This should give you an idea of the format and content required for your discussion piece. Dont worry too much about the exact content, or the style, as long as you provide readers of your document with an introduction to the theory, youve done well!

During RMC II Session 6, each student will briefly present his or her theory to the class, with accompanying discussion. Ill start the session with my description of Social Exchange Theory.
