With the Brighter Prospects programme I hope to connect our Members with wider Party Members and local businesses through 6 month internships. Hopefully this will provide our Members with a significant foot in the door and reward them for their dedication to the Young Nationals Southern Region. Feel free to contact me at james.meager@national.org.nz.

On Wed 22 Feb we held a very successful stall at the University of Otago's Clubs Day. After giving out almost 200 blue powerades, bottle openers, Party pens and complimentary blue-iced cupcakes, we collected over 150 new Members and Supporters. A huge thank you to all our volunteers and helpers, and especially to MPs Michael Woodhouse and Jacqui Dean who took time out of their days to meet a heap of new and interested students. Congratulations to Elliot Brownlee who won two tickets to the Highlanders v Crusaders on 3 March, as well as a new 2 degrees SIM card.

Following Clubs Day we had a successful meet and greet with new National List MP Alfred Ngaro who is based in Auckland. Alfred was impressed and happy to come down and talk to us about his path to Parliament and what it means to be the first Cook Islands MP in the House. We were equally glad to have him along in what hopefully will be the first of many high profile visits.

one night a week in the rough and tumble of indoor netball, outside on the touch field, or joining in on the pub quiz circuit, be sure to let us know. Teams and events are being finalised in the next two weeks, with the aim being to offer Members and Supporters something different from the often repeated political banter. If you follow the Super Rugby or the NRL, we also have online tipping competitions set up - just go to our Facebook Page for details. While we're on the subject of tipping, our hat's off this week to Christian "Hermo" Hermansen who leads our Virtual Super Rugby league with 56 points (7 out of 7). We're doing alright, sitting on 40 points. You can join our league here (Young Nats Southern Region sign in, and then click the link again), PIN 56679089. You can also join our Virtual NRL league which is kicking off soon, invite code 169043.
