Introducing the Players

hen I was in high school I made extra money selling programs at university sports events. I particularly liked track and field with its relay races, distance endurance tests but especially the sprints. Get your programs here! You cant tell the players without a program! I would shout. I sold them for 50 cents and got to keep 25 cents big money in those days. There were stars on every track team the woman who could run away from everyone else on the hurdles or clear the high bar with exceptional grace, the young man who did the 100 yard dash in record time or brought the crowd to its feet with a stunning finish to the four man relay. They had that something extra that raised our expectations and brought out the best in everyone on their team. The star on the Christian team was Jesus the son of Joseph. He had a vision of what the finish line looked like, and never took his eye off that goal. They didnt have surnames in those days and there were others named Jesus, so they would add son of Joseph to make sure people would know which Jesus they were talking about.
