English Debate

1. 2. 3. 4. The format used is Asia Parliamentary Debate. Participants are active students of State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Each team consists of three speakers (1st speaker, 2nd speaker, and 3rd speaker). Each of speaker is given 5.30 minutes and reply speaker is give 3 minutes to deliver his/her last statement. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Language used in debate is English. Participants are not allowed to replace other team member. Team arragement of the competition will be conducted during technical meeting. A debate session consists of two teams which there is a Affirmative and Negative team. In preliminary round, all motion are given in technical meeting. Then motion will be given a day before the competition in quarter final while for semifinal and grand final, the motion will be given seven minutes before each of session. 10. Motion for preliminary round will be decided five minutes before each session and picked randomly by the committee. 11. The adjudication system used is victory point in parliamentary round. If there is same victory points among team, the committee will consider its margin and score from each of the team. 12. The adjudication system for quarter final, semifinal and grand final used is elimination. 13. The adjudicators decision are final. 14. All participations are advised to wear decent attire and university blazer and shoes. 15. Cursing, offensive remarks and inappropriate gesturesare not allowed during the competition. 16. The english debate competition will be held on March 31 st and 4th April 2012. 17. Registration starts from 18. Participant is limited to 16 teams only. 19.
