ABSTRACT
Shariah banking is a popular branking practice in gulf nations where the banking is interest free. Interest collection is considered as Haram (evil) according to Islam and any income derived from such activities is also Haram. At this juncture, this projects looks at what are the other underlying principles of the Islamic banking. The comparison of private banking sector to that of Islamic banking is also presented in this research report with concentration on applicability of shariah banking in the Indian economy.
