Orangutans live solitary. They are least social and sociable than any other primate in the world.

Female orangutans travel only with their infant. But they at least meet other animal more often than their male. Each female lives in a relatively discrete area of forest. When a young female grows up, she build her own home nearby. However, when that young female meets her mother, she more likely to pass by with little or no direct interaction.

Adult males are even more antisocial than female. They almost always live alone and avoid interaction with other adult male.

Sumatran orangutans are more social than Bornean. This is because there are Sumatran tigers who hunt them for meal. So they sticking together to detect a hungry tiger, and less likely to become its dinner.
