A Moment

My sight is tainted, heart unsound Contaminated, self unfound My mind is clutter, senses in flight Head raised to the sky Howling into the night With my knees in the ground And my head in my hands I beg, plead, beseech That my eyes be graced by his vision one day And my ears By the eloquence of his speech He is the panacea Ive searched for Yearned for Delved inside And burned for Though my sins reach the sky I implore my eyes you cleanse Before my life in this world is done For how can I gaze upon his radiant countenance When I flinch and recoil From the light of the sun? If only for a single Solitary Instance A nanosecond Remove each and every hindrance Grant me the eyes of a pious man A praiseworthy man One not so deep in sin That I may witness his stature And the dazzling smile That captivated man and jinn That I may count the blessed white hairs On his blessed beard And on his blessed head And join those around him The rightly guided ones To pray in a congregation he led

After all Is sight truly sight If he does not grace our vision He who illuminated existence From beginning to end With his immeasurable perfection Cleanse my mind That I may recognise The true splendour of him Not like the Father of Ignorance Who saw not The Prophet of God But the orphan of Bani Hashim Bless my arms that I may hold him close Embrace his perfect form Have him wipe away my tears And feel his breath upon my flesh As he supplicates on my behalf And alleviates my fears Grant me sustenance through the pure water Of his blessed hands And of his blessed feet And perfume my being With the sweat he gave out In the raging desert heat Bless my ears that I may hear him speak Swim in his voice Drown in his words And hear him tell Of the wonders he witnessed On his heavenly journey upwards Bless my form That I may bask in his aura His radiance His light Have it wash my sins Purify my soul And rectify my plight And if the cost of these things I beseech you for Is mortal Make me willing to pay For what use are faculties If they are not graced by him Salawaat Allah wa salaamu alay
