Crocheted Scarflette

What you need:

1 skein of bulky yarn (your choice) Size J Crochet Hook Tapestry Needle Abbreviations: Sc = single crochet ch = chain

Dc = double crochet bl = back loop FPDC = front post double crochet BPDC = back post double crochet Sl st = slip stitch sp = space

Loop Section Using your hook make a slip knot and chain 16. Starting in second ch from hook, sc in each chain across. Ch 1 and turn. = 15 sc 1st row Sc in bl only across to end of row. (This will be where you pick up loops for end flounce and scalloped edging. 2nd row 13th row Sc in each sc across. Once completed, break yarn and run ends under. Now add new yarn to ch 16 beginning row and sc across. Crochet 12 more sc rows or until its even with the first side. Join both sides with sc stitches to form a loop or pocket for the other end of your scarflette to go through. Body of Scarflette Ch 1 and work 1 more sc row. = 15 sc Ch 3 and work 1 row of dc. = 15 dc Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout) Skipping first post, dc around front post of next stitch. BPDC around post of next stitch. Alternate between FPDC and BPDC across, ending with BPDC. Continue in this manner always beginning the row with a ch 3 and alternating between FPDC and BPDC until the body of the scarflette measures 18 not counting loop or flounce ends. You can adjust the length longer or shorter at this point for larger or smaller neck sizes.

Flounce ends and Scalloped Edging #Work 2 rows of sc remembering to ch 1 before each turn. Next row increase by working *2 sc in first stitch and 1 sc in next stitch* across ending with 2 sc in last stitch. = 23 sc Work 3 rows of sc remembering to ch 1 at each turn. On last row ch 3 and turn. Work a dc in same sp as ch 3. Work a dc in next stitch and then a sl st in next st across until the end of the row. # This makes your scalloped edge. Repeat from # to # for other end of scarflette, using front loop strands left from the first row where you worked sc stitches in back loops only.
