Student: Kia Ferguson Agency: Fairfax County Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence Services Site Supervisor: Kathleen Kelmelis Goals Knowledge: Continue to develop my personal knowledge of issues concerning clients affected by Domestic and Sexual Violence, and the resources and services that are available to them. Skills: Learn about the systems and operations of OFWDSVS, Fairfax County Government, Community Organizations, and Social Services, and how to effectively manage them through staff. Field Instructor: Adrienne Bey Strategies a. Study and analyze materials provided by Kathleen and OFWDSVS b. Conduct my own research on issues that are prevalent to staff and clients of the agency. a. Meet and discuss the different roles and responsibilities of staff of OFWDSVS b. Work closely with Kathleen to assess how she manages them as a whole. c. Attend various meetings with collaborative groups a. Take initiative on tasks and projects. b. Communicate any questions or concerns I may have about systems or procedures within the agency. c. Openly suggest ideas for opportunities I may see within the agency Methods of Measurement a. Articulate in journal entries and class assignments what I have learned about Domestic and Sexual Violence. b. Discuss these developments with my site supervisor and staff. a. Create a profile summary for each staff member and their role at OFWDSVS to use in agency presentation. b. Discuss with Kathleen the needs and responsibilities of the agency on a weekly basis. a. Note completion of tasks in a timely manner b. Record my achievements in my weekly journal. c. Develop a comprehensive eportfolio of my tasks and achievements. d. Successful completion of large collaborative projects.

Personal Development: Improve my leadership skills while working within the OFWDSVS, and build relationships with staff and other agencies that will enhance my professional development.
