When heated the wax evaporates and disappears. Bob Relief: A shallow relief Metso Relief: A little deeper relief Alto Relief: deepest relief

^^ A stele. A commemorative. Acadian leader named Naram-Sin. About a victory. Beginning of seeing a helmet w/ horns (sign of being dietyfied) Registration line wavers.

^^ Carving on Skirt. Neo-Sumarian. Made from Diorite. Made in 2100

BC. Not yet a law code but signified duty in office.

^^ About 4.5 high. Made of black stone (saved for important people/things) Is a law code. A relief carving at the top. 1780 BC. About the handing off of power. Lots of writing under the relief first record of actual laws.

^^Lions Gates. Showed strength of the king. A sign of power and leadership. Made to impress and scare you. Had massive walls because they were war-driven and needed to protect themselves.

^^Lammasu. A winged bull w/ human head. Meant to be frightening. Would house/protect a very wise, powerful man. 14 high. Very literal statue w. 5 legs instead of 4. (so that you would see 4 legs at all times)

^^ A hunting scene. Only kings hunted lions. Brought over from Africa. King kept lions in his den.

^^ Ishtar Gate. Babylon. Made of blue glazed bricks. Would go through gate and say a prayer to Ishtar. Horses and dogs are in relief (raised). 575 BC

^^Palace of Tesafon. Around 250 BC. First Arches. Palace Architecture openings for windows but are not real.

^^ Carved by Shafers people. Only piece that shows a Roman emporer on his knees defeated. A Christian image. 260 AD.
