Egg-celent Osmosis

The purpose of this experiment is to observe and make conclusions about

movement of water in and out of an egg. As a group you will be given an
egg that has had the shell removed by dissolving it in vinegar. Over the next
several days you will place the egg in different materials, make observations,
take measurements, and record information collected.

Instructions

Remove egg from liquid. Rinse and gently pat dry with paper towel.
Weigh your egg and record on data sheet.

Using a piece of string, gently wrap it around the widest part of the eggs’
middle.

Next hold the string up to a ruler; measure and record its length.

Now do the same thing with the long end of the egg.

Place egg in new liquid and let sit for two days.
