CLASSIFICATION
MECHANISM OF ACTION -Prevent the production of angiotenis II, a potent vasoconstriction that stimulates the production of aldosterone by blocking its conversion to the active from result is systemic vasodilation. -Lowering of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. -Decreased development of overt heart failure in patients surviving myocardial infarction. -Decreased preload and afterload in patients with CHF.
INDICATION
CONTRAINDICATION -Family history of angioedema -Renal impairment, hepatic impairment, hypovolemia, hyponatremia, elderly patients, concurrent diuretics therapy.
SIDE EFFECT
NURSING MANAGEMENT -Monitor blood pressure and pulse frequently during initial dosage adjustment and periodically throughout therapy -Monitor frequency of prescription refills to determined compliance -Monitor weight and assess patient routinely for resolution of fluid overload

-Alone or with other agents in the management of hypertension. -Management of CHF. -Redce risk of death or development of CHF following myocardial infarction. -Decreased progression of diabetic nephropathy.
CNS: dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, weakess RESP.: cough CV: hypotension, angina pectoris, tachycaria GI: loss of taste perception, anorexia, diarrhea, nausea GU: proteinuria, impotence, renal failure
