Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC)

The Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (PED) of the European Union sets out the standards for the design and fabrication of pressure equipment . It is one of the series of EC directives adopted by Member States with the purpose of removing barriers to free trade across EU borders

Applies to pressure equipment where Pressure > 0.5 Bar Pressure Equipment Steam boilers, pressure vessels, piping, safety valves and other components and assemblies subject to pressure loading

Purpose of this directive is to ensure all equipments be safe; meet essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing; satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures. Classified by different categories depending on their maximum allowable pressure, volume and the fluid for which they are intended

Why PED is required for JSL Mandatory requirement for selling the product in the European Community, where the end application is pressurized equipment.
