What is Non Profit Organization

A non profit organization is an organization that does not issue stock shares or distribute its surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead uses the funds to help achieve its goals.

Most governments and government agencies are described by this definition of NPOs

Nature and goals

NPOs are often charities or service organizations or trust Also termed foundations. Foundations give grants to other small NPOs, or fellowships and direct grants to participants.

In India, NPOs are known commonly as NonGovernmental Organizations (NGOs). They can be registered in four ways: Trust Society Section-25 Company Special Licensing

Economic activity. Supervision and management provisions. Representation. Accountability and Auditing provisions. Provisions for the amendment of the statutes or articles of incorporation. Provisions for the dissolution of the entity. Tax status of corporate and private donors. Tax status of the foundation.
