1. Ibn Khaldun His name was Abduraman bin Muhammad bin Ibn Khaldun. He was born in Tunis on Ramadan 1732 (May 1332). He received traditional education that was typical of his familys rank and status. He memorized the Quran by heart, learned grammar, hadiths, rhetoric philology, poetry.
Contribution: Views in philosophy: - focuses on mysticism and theology. He writes the history of the world. He also analyses the dynamics of group relations.
2. Al- Farabi (870-950) His name is Abu Nasr Muhammad Ibn Al- Farakh al Farabi. He was born in Wasij, Turkistan in the year 870 AD. He took his education in Farab & Bukhara. He became a judge but later he became a teacher.
His contributions are: His area of knowledge encompasses of philosophy, logic and sociology. He is known as the second great teacher after Aristotle. He drives the study of logic (idea and evidence). He produced 177 books regarding logic, metaphysic, ethical & political science.
3. Ibnu Rusyd (520-595) He is known as Averroes in western world. He was born in cordova, Andalusia (Spain) during Dark ages His date of birth is April, 14 1126. He died in December 10, 1198 at the age of 72. It was in Marrakesh, Morroco. His real name is Abu Al Walid Muhammad ibn Ahmad Ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ahmad ibn Rushd. He is well-known as Pendeta Abu- Walid. His area is in medicine as well as in law.
4. Al- Ghazali He is known as Al gazel for the westerners. His name is Abu Hamed Mohammad ibn Mohammad al-Ghazal. He was born in Tus, Khorasan, Iran (1058). He was appointed as a professor in Baghdad in 1091. He died in 1111. He has sometimes been referred as a historian as the single most influential Muslim after the prophet Muhammad.
