Introduction

Paddy productivity have been linked to direct inputs variables such as labour hours, use of pesticides, use of fertilizers and use of irrigation. Socioeconomic aspects of a farmers are seldom linked to paddy productivity. Although they do affect the productivity but in an indirect way.

Justification

Previous studies done showed certain socioeconomics of farmers have impacted productivity yield of crops. Examples are age, gender, educational level, and secondary occupation. Therefore a need to conduct this study to fit the information provided in Sabah case.

to investigate the relationship between socio-economic characteristics of paddy farmers and their productivity on paddy in Kota Belud District. Secondary objective

Hypothesis

The socio-economic characteristics of the paddy farmers have significant impact on the paddy productivity.

The paddy farmers perception on the future of paddy cultivation are negative. 3/22/12

Literature Review
Author Ibrahim and Low Alam et al Year 2010 Findings Gender, age, years of experience, educational level of paddy farmers have significant impact on paddy productivity. Race, secondary occupation, educational level, ratio of non agriculture to agriculture income, number of machineries use have significant impact to paddy productivity. Age of farmer, farmers education, farmers experience, extension contact and credit use are the significant factors affecting efficiency of the rice farmers resulting in better productivity. Land, level of variable inputs used, experience and age were significant influencing productivity of rice among the male farmers in the area.
