Trustee Opportunity

Founded in 1988, The National Jazz Archive (Charity 327894) is the specialist repository for the history of Jazz in the UK in addition to the USA and Europe.

Our holdings include books, periodicals and journals, photographs, personal papers, ephemera and a small number of artefacts.

We are looking to recruit three trustees to the board to expand the range of skills governing the charity and its activities. This is an opportunity for trustees to use their skills and energy to take a pivotal role in steering the Archive at an exciting time of growth and development for the organisation.

The Archive has received a significant Heritage Lottery Fund grant to tell the Story of British Jazz. This will encompass the cataloguing and digitisation of a substantial amount of material as well as a dynamic programme of learning and events to engage new audiences with the Archive.

Applicants should have a background in either heritage learning, archives or have had previous involvement in the governance of arts and heritage institutions.

The board meets quarterly and opportunities are given throughout the year for trustees to take an active role in the Archives learning and outreach programme, special events and attendance at UK Jazz festivals. All travel expenses are paid.

For further information on the role of a trustee or for an informal chat please call 020 8502 4701. To apply for one of the positions please send your CV to recruitment@nationaljazzarchive.org.uk
The Archive is hosted by Essex County Council Libraries and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Registered charity number: 327894 www.nationaljazzarchive.org.uk
