Preparatory process for Weaving

The yarns as manufactured and packaged after spinning are not in the optimum condition to enter the looms directly so as to produce fabrics. Package size, build and other factors make it necessary for the yarn to be further processed to prepare it to be handled efficiently during fabric manufacturing. The yarn package as it comes from spinning must be repackaged to meet the particular needs and demands of fabric manufacturing.

Weft yarn preparation


Weft yarn is frequently supplied from the spinning mill in packages which may be placed in the shuttle. However weft yarn should be subjected to moistening and emulsifying .

Warp Yarn preparation


Warp yarn supplied by spinning mills is wound from spinning cops into winding packages convenient for warping . The yarn is wound in the winding room on warp winders. During the process of winding , yarn is cleared from spinning defects slubs , thick places etc. After winding and checking in the winding room , the warp yarn is passed to the warping room . During warping , a certain no. of ends of a given length are wound in warpers into a package that is a warping beam .

After warping , the yarn is subjected to sizing . During the sizing process ,the yarn is impregnated with a special glueing composition called the size. The warp yarn becomes stronger , smoother and wear resistant . At the same time , the ends coming from several warping beams in sizing are put together and wound on the weavers beam. Sized warp yarn is supplied on weavers beams to the drawing-in room . A certain part of the warp is drawn in drop wires , heald eyes and between the reed dents. Drawing-in is carried out on the special drawing in frames . Drawing in is the final operation in the preparation of warp yarns for weaving .

Winding
OBJECTIVE: To transfer yarn from spinner bobbin to another suitable package for warping machine. REQUIREMENTS: The fault level in the yarn must be reduced to an acceptable level. The yarn must not be damaged in the winding process. The package size, shape and build must be suitable for particular end use. The package size should be controlled to meet the particular economic requirement.
