102 26 March 2012 Survivor Testimony Anton Mason Anton Mason is a holocaust survivor that was from Austria-Hungary, which is now Romania. His name before the holocaust was Anton Meisner. His birthday is April 21, 1927, and he was 71 when the video was shot, but would be about 95 years old if he is still alive today. His family lived in a city in Austria-Hungary that was called Sigit. This city had a population of about 30 thousand, and nearly 12 thousand of those people were Jews. He had a mother and father and one brother. His fathers name was Maximillion Meisner, and he was a fur merchant in the city they lived in. His mother was Sara, and she was a stay at home mother. His only brother was named Samuel, and he died along with his Mother upon arriving at Auschwitz. Before the removal of the Jews from their homes, the Meisners lived a comfortable life since Antons father was quite successful. When Anton was sent to Auschwitz, he got to stay with his father, and the two got to stay together till about the end when the Nazis started the death marches. Anton always thinks to himself that if he could only have said no to the Nazis, then maybe his father would still be alive, and maybe all the bad things that happened to him would not have come to pass. Anton did realize though, that even though he was in that hell and that he had no way to escape it, he was still a moral man, and he never did anything in the concentration camps that he would not have done in the regular world.

Anton had these quotes to say about the experience he went through: 95 percent of the Jews acted very well towards each other. We did hit each other, we didnt hurt each other, and we didnt steal from each other. We did not want to make anyones life more worse that it already was. In the morning when I shave, I say to myself in the mirror, You are here you survived, but nobody got hurt, you didnt hurt anybody, so no one can approach you about anything you did.
