BIG BAZAAR
In September 2001, Big Bazaar was launched in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Indore and Calcutta, India By Mr. Kishore Biyani.

In just a matter of ten years, the stores have grown into 148 in 80 towns and cities across the country.

Recruitment
There are many sources through which Big Bazaar Recruits. Following are the main source of recruitments: Consultancy Services: For top level management, employees are recruited through private consultants. They are usually appointed as Departmental Managers. Walk ins: This is the main source through which Big Bazaar recruits its employees. People seeking job usually themselves approach the HR department for job vacancy. Employees usually selected from this source are appointed at the entry level as team members.

Employee Referrals:

Candidates who have given their previous employer as referrals are first interviewed and from their previous employer, opinion is taken about their behaviour and performance in the job.

Campus recruitment: Young people bring new ideas and fresh enthusiasm. Therefore Big Bazaar visits some of the reputed educational institutions to hire some of the most talented and promising students as its employees.

Selection
The following is the selection procedure that the HR department practices to hire its employees. 1) Interview For entry level jobs, the candidates are interviewed by a HR person. 2) Psychometric Tests: For higher and top level jobs, candidates are asked to answer a few questions which basically test their sharpness, analytical ability, ability to handle stress, presence of mind etc.

3) Group Discussion: In campus recruitment students are involved in a Group Discussion, where they will be given a topic on which the group has to deliberate, discuss and arrive at a solution or a decision which is accepted by the whole group. Along with the G D they are also given a written aptitude test. Finally a formal interview will be conducted to assess the overall skills of the students.

Induction and Training


In Big Bazaar new employees selected will be given a 13 day induction and training program. They will be given information about the companys business, different departments etc. They will be informed of their roles, duties and responsibilities. They will also be informed about the HR policies and rules of the company. The new employees will be on probation for a period of 6 months. After this period the HR period along with the department manager will review the performance of the employee. If the employees performance is good and encouraging, the employees services will be confirmed.

People seeking job usually themselves approach the HR department for job vacancy.

Selection
From the talent pool available at various job portals, CVs are scrutinized on the basis of experience and background. The selected people are called for the further process. The called candidates are asked to appear in the 2-3 rounds of written test. The candidates who clear the written tests are thereafter selected for the Group discussion round. The candidates are then interviewed and the best out of the pool are selected. Induction and Training


Training is based on observation and experience and designed to equip people with the knowledge and expertise required to work in Easy day Stores. It is given for 2 months in the head office which is located in Gurgon. Store Managers and Team leaders give the training to the newly hired employees

B.A.R.
The Company has established the Bharti Academy of Retail (BAR) to provide basic retail training free of cost. BAR is the pre-employment trainingcum-hiring arm of Bharti Retail that ensures a hiring pool for Store Associates positions, and assures consistent quality of recruitment and provides on-time hiring to stores. BAR follows the Hub-and-Spoke model, wherein a permanent BAR setup at a specified location caters to hiring requirements of the hub location and nearby smaller locations, categorized as spoke locations. A temporary BAR setup is operational only for the period of hiring and uses the services of the staff at the Hub location for counseling and training
